Spicy Ramen

Everyone who is reading knows the trials of having long days, it starts with class in the early morning, then on to homework in the afternoon, now off to work for the evening, followed by more homework, this is the true college experience, yay. However, even on the days where my schedule is packed and I only see the walls of my apartment after the sun has gone down, I will never be caught missing a meal. Last night, I decided to doctor a fan-favorite of many college students, top ramen. A dish that takes no more than 5 minutes in the microwave but is very boring just as it comes in the pack, so I had to make it my own, introducing my spicy ramen.

Ingredients

  • One pack Maruchan Top Ramen, any flavor (I used chicken)

  • Sriracha sauce

  • Soy sauce

  • Sesame oil

  • Onion powder

  • Garlic Powder

Toppings

  • 1 Soft boiled egg

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped or dried parsley

Instructions (Stove-top)

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil

  • Put a block of ramen into the boiling water

  • Boil for 5 minutes, then strain noodles leaving some water

  • Heat a pan over medium heat

  • Add sesame oil into the pan

  • Add ramen noodles into the pan

  • Season with seasoning packet, sriracha, soy sauce, onion, and garlic powder

  • Place in a bowl and top with soft-boiled egg, sesame seeds, and parsley

Please make and enjoy this dish with friends and family or on your own on the lazy days and hard ones too!

  1. Hi Devyn! I'm a huge foodie, so I can totally relate on the whole never missing a meal even on those super busy days. I love that you turned something so simple as ramen into a gourmet dish. This is such a great example of how resourceful us college students can be! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe, I definitely plan on trying it out the next time I get the chance!

  3. Devyn, I love food and I can definitely see myself eating this in the future. It seems like you make something that is very boring and easy to make into something that looks like a top-tier meal. I am not a big ramen eater but in the future I definitely need to try out this recipe!
